Kibale National Park contains one of the loveliest and most varied tracts of tropical forest in Uganda. This park (Kibale) is a primate lovers’ paradise with chimpanzee tracking being the predominant activity. This humans’ closest relation with the wild (the chimpanzees) are simply fascinating to watch as they squabble and play in the fruit trees.

Other primates include the: black and white colobus monkeys, red-tailed monkeys, L’Hoest’s monkey, Uganda mangabey (Lophocebus ugandae). While on your chimpanzee trails, you will see them swinging in the forest trees and others feeding on the wild fruits. The forest’s shady trails provide much delight to botanists and butterfly lovers too whereas bird-watchers are blown away by over 350 species of birds, including the elusive green breasted African pitta.

Take a look at this recount: “We even saw the most elusive green breasted African pitta in Kibale Forest. That was stunning. The holy grail bird for birders as she is hardly ever seen even by ardent hardcore bird-watchers. What luck we saw one and even took pictures!”. Kibale Forest NP is simply one destination that can best be described when you get there.

We are talking about the rain forest on one side and on another side you are gazing at some spectacular crater lakes that you can ever imagine. Walk/hike to the “top of the world” and you will surely be left speechless.

Getting there: Road transfer mainly.

What to do: Chimp tracking, Bigodi wetland excursion, bird watching, hiking the crater lakes, nature walk (day & night), community & cultural encounter.
