Tour Detail

A safari in Uganda offers travelers the opportunity to discover a land of pristine natural beauty. Described as “the Pearl of Africa” by Winston Churchill, Uganda offers some of Africa’s finest geographical and natural beauty, making it a tourist haven. Home to the greatest concentration of primates on the planet (including half the world’s mountain gorilla population), the source of the mighty River Nile and magnificent all year snow-capped peaks on Rwenzori Mountain, Uganda is an adventure enthusiasts’ paradise. Bird-watchers and big 5 animal lovers alike agree; this country is a true African gem waiting to be discovered.

Dubbed “the land of a thousand hills”, Rwanda’s scenic setting is mind-blowing. A haven for any scenery lover! If interested, there are also some volcanoes to explore including crossing border into the famous Nyiragongo craters. It’s really not just about the safari and savannah here, but the warmth of people you meet as well. Warm and friendly, Rwandese are captivating, whether through traditional dance (itore), unique architecture or works of art. Forget about the country’s sad past. Rwanda is (now) one of the safest destinations to visit in Africa. This content could go on and on but only a visit into Rwanda can best reveal to you what an endearing destination it is! From Kasenyi, continue to the Ishasha sector – famously known for its tree-climbing lion population. Rest a bit and then go for an Afternoon-to-evening game drive in search of tree-climbing lions. The chance of spotting these lions stands at about 60-70% but sometimes they are hard to spot (most especially when they are down in the grassland looking for prey). Should you get the chance to spot the lions up in the tree, the sight is picturesque and unforgettable. Beyond lions, you can easily spot large herds of elephants, buffaloes, topis, and Uganda kobs. The actual trek into the forest begins at 8am in the company of your ranger-guide(s) and other participants assigned. The high altitude here combined with steep, rugged (sometimes muddy) terrain makes gorilla trekking physically demanding but rewarding. One moment you’re descending, and the next, you are ascending to a higher elevation. The time taken (3-8 hours) vary with the movements of these great primates. Once you have located a gorilla group, you will be allowed an hour in their presence. The thrill of spending time observing these gentle but endangered giants is unforgettable. At the end of the trek, you will be awarded a certificate of completion that you can keep as a reminder of this lifetime experience. Return to the accommodation, and rest after a strenuous trek. #Optional (extra cost): In case you finished early and the body is willing to go out again; you can discuss with your guide and see what possibilities are there then make a choice.

Additional Info

The roads (route):

While paved highways are in excellent condition, part of this journey will involve traversing some rural dirt road networks that may present a bouncy, uncomfortable ride at some points. This tour will therefore use a well-maintained safari land-cruiser to better navigate the park tracks and interior dirt roads.

At times (most especially when decision to confirm delays to come through), it is possible to miss out because the slots have sold out. In all efforts, we ensure the timeframe of the tour is not altered.
