Day 2 on this safari in Kenya takes to explore the remote Samburu NP. You will be picked from your hotel in Nairobi and depart for Samburu Game Reserve. Arrive in time for lunch. At 1600hr, you will head out on a game drive in the semi-arid park that showcases the unique wildlife that Samburu is home to.

In addition to more ‘conventional’ safari animal sightings, you’ll also have the chance to spot the Beisa Oryx, Reticulated Giraffe, Somali Ostrich, long-necked Gerenuk and Grevy’s Zebra that form the famous Samburu ‘Special Five‘. The park is also home to large herds of elephants as well as lions, leopards, zebras, and more. After your game drive, you’ll return to the camp and rest.

Accommodation: (Ashnil Samburu Camp: 3.5-Star) | Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner | Transfer Time: Approx. 6 hours.

Today we rise up early and enjoy our breakfast and by 6:30am we set out in the park in search of rare species of animals unique to the park, namely: the long-necked gerenuk, Grevy’s zebra, reticulated giraffe and Beisa onyx. These are the “special 5” on this safari in Kenya. Before it is hot, we return to the camp for lunch. Samburu is hot and it is at times not advisable to have a full day game drive.

We head out for our evening game drive between 1600hrs to 1830hrs. Other wildlife present in the park includes cheetahs and lions, as well as elephants, buffalo and hippos. Besides, the park is a bird haven and boasts over 350 different species of birds including vultures, kingfishers, marabous, bateleurs, guinea fowl, Somali ostriches and others. Finally, we will return for dinner and overnight stay.

Depart Samburu for Ol Pejeta Conservancy. We will arrive at camp with enough time to settle in before lunch with a little time to relax before we head out for our evening game drive. Host to all the members of the ‘Big Five, the conservancy has a higher wildlife-to-area ratio than any Kenyan national park and is one of only four private game conservancies to have been founded in Kenya.

At the forefront of the Kenyan conservancy programme, the conservancy boasts the largest black rhino sanctuary in East Africa, hosts the only chimpanzee sanctuary in Kenya, and shelters large numbers of rare and endangered species. Dinner and overnight at the conservancy. *Optional: If interested, night game drive can be arranged at an additional cost.

Accommodation: (Sweetwaters Serena Camp: 4-Star) | Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner | Drive Time: 3-4 hours.

We will have breakfast and then depart Ol Pejeta for Lake Nakuru National Park. Lake Nakuru National Park offers you a rare insight into Kenya’s most diverse flora, fauna and wildlife and is famous for its huge flocks of pink flamingos. The birds’ throng on Lake Nakuru and the lake itself, one of the Rift Valley soda lakes that comprises almost a third of the park’s area is amazing. More than 450 species of birds have been recorded here as well as a rich diversity of other wildlife.

Lake Nakuru is surely a special destination on this safari in Kenya. Lions, leopards, warthogs, waterbucks, pythons, and white rhinos are just some of the animals you might see, and the landscapes range from sweeping grasslands bordering the lake to rocky cliffs and woodland. The park also protects the largest euphorbia candelabrum forest in Africa. After a satisfying encounter, we will head to the camp for dinner and overnight.

Accommodation: (Lake Nakuru lodge: 3.5-Star) | Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner | Transfer time: Approx. 5 hours.

A safari in Kenya is simply incomplete without a visit to famous Masai Mara National Reserve. Rise up early for breakfast, check out and depart Lake Nakuru National Park for Masai Mara Game Reserve. We anticipate to arrive at the camp with enough time to settle in before lunch with a little time to relax before we head out for our evening game drive between 1600hrs to 1830hrs.

Masai Mara is one of the lushest reserves in Africa, and is globally renowned for the Great Migration when thousands of wildebeest, zebra, and Thomson’s gazelle travel to and from the Serengeti, from Late July through October. In the Mara River, throngs of hippos and crocodiles lurk awaiting their unsuspecting prey.

Accommodation: (Zebra Plains Mara Camp: 3-Star) | Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner | Transfer Time: Approx. 5 hours.

The “Big Five” safari animals are the lion, leopard, rhino, elephant, and buffalo.

Originally a hunting term that referred to the difficulty in stalking these dangerous African mammals, it was considered a trophy hunters’ feat to bring them home.

That’s not a view we share, and our team are passionate about their conservation. On our big 5 safari in Kenya, you’ll get to see the magnificence of these animals in their natural habitat. Take a look at what’s in store on this incredible adventure.
